Marquette Mountain Snow Report: 100+ Inches and Counting!
If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to head to Marquette Mountain Resort, the wait is over. The winter we’ve been dreaming of has officially arrived in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula, and to put it simply: the powder is deep.
While the falling flakes look great on a webcam, the conditions on the hill are even better. Here is the lowdown on why right now is the best time to ride the U.P.
Record-Breaking Snowfall: Crushing the Averages
We know the U.P. is famous for “lake effect” lake-crushing totals, but this season is something special. We aren’t just meeting the standard; we are burying it.
Snowfall Metric |
Total inches |
|---|---|
| Seasonal Average to Date | -80″ |
| Current Snowfall Total | 100″+ |
| Status | 20″ Above Average |
We are sitting comfortably ahead of the curve. With more precipitation in the forecast, our base is only getting deeper and more durable for the rest of the season.
Terrain Update: The East Side is 100% Natural
Thanks to that massive 100-inch milestone, our base across the mountain is incredibly solid. However, the real highlight for purists is the East Side.
For those who crave the rugged, untreated feel of true backcountry-style terrain, the East Side runs on 100% natural snow. Because of the early-season accumulation, we were able to drop the ropes on the East Side back on Tuesday, December 30th. It has been skiing beautifully ever since, offering some of the best natural glades and powder stashes in the Midwest.
