Designated Routes & Access

  • Ascent Route: Users must skin or boot up the looker’s far right of Rocket Run only.
  • Descent Route: You may ski or ride down Rocket or Cliff’s Ridge.
  • Conditions for Access: Pre and early season uphill access is only available if Rocket is open to the public during normal hours. If Rocket or Cliff’s Ridge is closed, all pre-open access is prohibited. If the mountain is closed due to inclement weather or other reasons, uphill access is not permitted.
  • Parking & Entry: Please park in the Tbar lot and enter through the gate just west of the Tbar.

Safety & Mountain Operations

MMR conducts operations 24 hours a day. You may encounter snowcats, snowmobiles, or snowmaking equipment at any time.

  • Machinery Warning: Keep a wide berth from all machinery. Stay completely off trails being groomed. Never move toward a grooming operation; operators may not see you, creating an extremely dangerous situation.
  • Visibility: In low light or fog, we highly recommend wearing fluorescent or reflective clothing and using a headlamp. You must remain visible from above at all times.
  • No Ski Patrol: Ski Patrol is NOT on duty before operating hours or if we are closed. Any rescue or medical care required is at your own risk and may result in a charge for services.

Strict Policies & Closures

  • Ropes & Signs: Respect all closures and warnings. Entering trails marked “Closed” or areas not yet opened for the season will result in the revocation of your pass for the season.
  • Terrain Parks: Access to all terrain parks is strictly prohibited outside of normal operating hours.
  • Wildlife: Be aware of your surroundings. Moose, bears, and wolves may be encountered; keep your distance and do not approach wildlife.
  • Boundary Policy: You may not enter or leave the MMR boundary by crossing ropes or closed gates. If you leave the resort boundary, you do so entirely at your own risk.

Freestyle terrain is constantly changing due to weather, usage, and grooming. Your speed, trajectory, and body alignment directly affect your outcome. Read and obey all posted signs and warnings before entering the park.

The Core Principles: Park Smart

  • Start Small: Ratings (Small, Medium, Large) are based on size, not difficulty, and are relative only to Marquette Mountain. Use progression features to build your skills.
  • Make a Plan: Every time you use a feature, have a plan. Your approach and takeoff determine your landing.
  • Inverted Maneuvers: Inverted aerials significantly increase your risk of serious injury or death and are not recommended.

Technical Awareness

  • Transitions: Be alert for changes in the shape and pitch of the snow or the sliding surface. Transitions can be abrupt and require accurate body movement.
  • The Landing: Know your “Sweet Spot.” Aim for the area between the “knuckle” and the center of the landing zone. Always land on your feet.
  • Intended Use: Jump takeoffs are for jumping; rail takeoffs are for entering rails. Do not jump to the side of a rail takeoff.

Smart Style Guidelines

  • Make a Plan: Every feature requires a calculated approach.
  • Look Before You Leap: Scope around the jumps first, not over them. Use your first run as a warm-up to familiarize yourself with the current conditions. Do not jump blindly; use a spotter when necessary.
  • Easy Style It: Know your limits. Freestyle skills require maintaining control on the ground and in the air.
  • Respect Gets Respect: One person on a feature at a time. Wait your turn, call your start, and clear the landing area immediately.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome in our outdoor base area only, provided they remain on a leash at all times. For the safety of our guests and your pets, dogs (pet cats, pumas, wolves, coyotes, birds– you get the picture…) are not permitted inside any buildings, on chairlifts, or on any mountain trails.

We reserve the right to request the removal of any pet from our property for any reason.

No. Due to Michigan Health Department and Liquor Control Commission regulations, outside food and beverages (including coolers) are not permitted inside our facilities or at our outdoor dining areas.

Please visit our Tbar or Iron Moose Cafe for a full selection of food and drink.

For the safety of our guests and to protect our equipment, the use of unmanned aerial systems (Drones) is prohibited at Marquette Mountain Resort without prior written authorization from resort management.
